(Dedicated to the memory of Robert Rines)

Near Inverness there is confined
in Loch Ness (that's a lake)
a beast the ages left behind,
a real one, not a fake.

If Loch Ness were more like a fjord
perhaps a sudden notion
would take the monster, when she's bored,
to swim out in the ocean.

She could cavort, dance to and fro
upon the waves above
or she could dive down far below
in search of monster love.

But tucked away far from the sea
she sometimes starts to fret.
She wonders if her mystery
is trending on the net.

In fog she rises from the deep
where those who are obsessing
can catch a distant glimpse to keep
those breathless bloggers guessing.
