Kim Bridgford: Jeff Bezos
People want to hate you, Jeff.
It’s the billions, not enough
To be divorced. (You left for love.)
I think of early, bookstore times
When you sold books, and window chimes,
And people thought it funny. Claims
That you would beat the local boxes
Of Borders, Barnes & Noble? Hexes
On cookies, mugs, and Rolodexes!
Now warehouses of employees
Assemble for the factories
Of books, Whole Foods, and toiletries.
Twenty-five years ago, you knew
If people can stay home, they do.
