(18th century British terrorist)
George Washington, fulfilled the Declaration
By winning independence for a nation.
The people cheered, "Yer swell, George. Be our king!"
But he proclaimed he'd stoop to no such thing.
A monarchy was not what we required,
And so the general to his farm retired.
They loved him more then, made him president,
Begged, "Stay in that there White House permanent,"
But Washington again was wiser. "Stuff!
Eight years of any leader is enough"
(A rule that all observe—at least so far!—
Except that greedy cripple FDR).
Thank George. How comforting to always know
Our current leader soon will have to go!
Our reverence for Washington is fitting.
He showed how much can be achieved by quitting.
