If figures tell the tale we want them to
we needn’t fuss if there’s discrepancy,
it’s not a perfect fit but it will do.
Regardless of how far we need to skew
the stats, to build believability
they still should tell the tale we want them to.
But if some geeks decide on a review,
look closely, clean the data, they'll agree
it's not a perfect fit. So it'll do
no harm to obfuscate, fake something new
make up some makeshift data, so that we
can underpin our tale. We want it to
sound plausible, look as though it’s true
as we climb freely up the corporate tree.
It’s not a perfect fit but it will do
to advance our careers - should see us through
to pension age before discovery
that they don’t tell the tale we want them to,
it’s not a perfect fit, and it won’t do.
