Dear Brother, though you’ve not objected,
it’s clear that I’ve grossly neglected
to honor your birth
in the manner it’s worth
and you may fear you've been disrespected.
Yet dissuade you I must from such fears,
for throughout all the last forty years
from days dim and distant
I've been quite consistent
in sending such thoughts in arrears.
Not rejection, or lack of deep feeling!
Imperfection – my own – and not dealing
too well with my time
(it’s disorganized crime),
so for pardon I’m once more appealing.
And although this delay’s a bit greater,
I trust it was not a deflator,
for I’m sure that our Sis
was not so remiss
(or at least she was sooner than later).
So I’ll close with a warm birthday greeting
And remind you that life is but fleeting:
Waste no time irate
that I’m once again late,
for this sin is one I’ll be repeating!
