Yesterday I counted ten people
on the evening train: most of them
doing the zombie thumb-tap:
only one was observing reality.

Through tired cloudy windows
it appeared there were still
some green fields left with horses
and sheep idly chomping.

Whoever invented smartphones
knew how addictive they’d become.
I continued reading my book,
a thing you don’t see much now.
