(What I learned about life in the 4th round)
Serena Williams won 9 games in a row
And was up 3-0 in the third
Set against Sabine Lisicki but then . . .
Something very odd occurred.
She suddenly revealed a weakness
That rendered her bereft –
Despite her usual fierceness, Serena
Found she had nothing left.
She always appeared like a Hummer
Possessed with amazing power
Who for many years had made all of
Her various opponents cower.
Regardless of any kind of notable strength
On clay, hard court or grass,
It doesn’t matter what kind of car you are
When you just run out of gas.
