At first he seems the spineless sort-
no firm goals, nothing much to do,
a slacker, always falling short.
Then, suddenly, he grows on you.
And when he rises to the task,
he always makes a big impression.
He's up for anything you ask-

At length, the effort he expends
depletes him, and his spirits droop.
Making a comeback then depends
