Shall I compare you to an active life?
You are more effortless in every way.
Others may choose the role of busy wife
And cook and wash and shop and dust all day.

Or rise betimes to shower and smartly dress,
Then grab a coffee and make up a face
Down coloured pills to counteract the stress
Of joining in the working human race.

But from all this your presence grants release,
I lie abed for hours, and idly dream,
Then wallow in a bath's relaxing peace,
Touch up my toenails, breakfast on ice-cream.

There's nothing in this life would make me loth
To crown you first among my vices, Sloth.
