Jumping the queue while pushing slightly
The woman asked ever so politely:
"I have only one item, s'il vous plaît . . . "
The man, of course, nodded his okay.
But wait! He had merely one item too,
As did the youth behind him in the queue.

Outside, a car was honking at a bus
Whose passengers were just stepping aboard
As was their right to do. So why the fuss?
But wait! Here in France, by common accord,
To wait quietly is, well, frowned upon;
The queues are jumped, horns honked by everyone.

A Yank can only smile and shake his head.
Not to say he's found a flaw
But to show that he's in awe:
No one grabbed a gun; no one is dead.
