Alan Balter: Double Trouble
I studied hard till late last night; my brain was strained and troubled
And when I finally fell asleep, I dreamed that things were doubled.
Think about it for a while; imagine it were true,
The world would be a funny place if multiplied by two
Two hundred US senators enacting brand new laws,
Eighteen supreme court justices checking them for flaws.
Exactly twenty amendments to form the Bill of Rights
A six ring circus with acrobats performing daring flights
Next, consider what the world would be if multiplied by three.
Confusing and amusing, I'm sure we'd all agree.
Three hearts pounding in your chest when you became excited
Though others, now with, yes, six ears, might not be so delighted.
