We don't pay much attention to the lamp,
Except for changing bulbs, or else the site;
And that's a shame, because the lamp's a champ
Amongst our household objects. Day and night
The lamp dictates dynamics in a room;
The quality of light, the proper shade
Can generate a somber sense of gloom,
Or make one want to sing a serenade.
A sweet warm glow, combined with lowest wattage,
Invites romance, and intimate rapport;
But if a harsh glare permeates one's cottage,
Some sort of stark activity's in store.
Observe your lamps − they're not mere decoration.
They're partners in performance; they are friends.
Consider, say, a quiet celebration
For that device on which so much depends.
