“On a résumé, in an airport or on a date, it’s a dangerous game
trying to be someone you’re not. It’s always a safer bet to be
yourself. That is, unless you are a head of cauliflower.
This cruciferous vegetable is the ultimate master of disguise.”
New York Times

You think you met me in the park
out underneath a tree?
But you’re not sure, since it was dark?
No, hon, that wasn’t me.

A cabbage, or a squash, perhaps.
You’d make a lousy spy!
But do, please, keep this under wraps,
or I won’t tell you why.

But I won’t tell you anyway.
There is too much at stake.
Plus, anything that I might say
would just prove me a fake,

Since I’d say anything, I swear,
not to reveal my game.
And cauliflowers everywhere
would do, and say, the same!
