As naked mole-rats we may be
Among the lowest of the shoots
That grow on Darwin’s famous tree;
Just lucky we’re not in the roots.
But even naked mole-rats dream.
I’ve got a plan, I shall ascend.
I’ve formed a very clever scheme
To climb that tree from end to end.
I only need a suit and tie
To wear as I walk down the street,
A hat to tip at passers-by,
Whomever I may chance to meet.
And then when I’m no longer nude
My fellow creatures will extol that
Suave demeanour I exude,
“There goes one dapper Well-Dressed-Mole-Rat.”
