A graduate metallurgist, Alan Lewis switched to editing and writing 55 years ago and now lives in Bucks. In the 1970s he contributed punny pieces to The Sunday Times leading to his books A Pun My Soul and Pundemoniam, the latter still available from Paul Watkins Publishing. To help keep him sane through the first of three cancers, in 2000 he composed Below Stairs, a royalty-free musical, whose 16 productions have already raised £7850 for Cancer Research U.K. See www.belowstairsshow.com or phone 01494 564512.
