Born in Kent, formed on Tyneside, Graham Austin delivered his first rhyming couplet at the age of three and began literary composition as soon as he could write meaningful sentences. As a 'serious poet' he has adopted T.S. Eliot's assertion that a poem might 'exercise the dramatic, descriptive, and narrative talents of its maker', but often forgets it. His publications are Fuelling Speculation (HappenStance, 2010); Poetry for Blokes Vols 1-7 (2005-2011, intended to encourage more men to read poetry); Free Verse Tales from the Home for Historical Personages (2009); Poems by Augustus Snodgrass Esq..(2008); Golden Boy and Me Vols 1 & 2 (2004); and Not a Word (2004, containing the interesting silent performance poem). He has also published two booklets: Considering Eliot's The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock (2009); and The Joker Playing Card, its origins and development (2005).
